When and where are services?
Each week at Genesis United Methodist we offer three distinct worship opportunities. Each service lasts approximately one hour. We recommend arriving early so you will not feel rushed.
- 8:15 a.m., Traditional service in the Chapel
- 10:30 a.m., Traditional service in the Sanctuary
- 10:30 a.m., Contemporary service in the Great Room
What do I do when I get there?
Look for our Welcome Center in the Commons area of the church (the long, main hallway in the building). There our staff and volunteers will give you a packet of information about the church, along with a special welcome gift. They will also be happy to answer any questions you may have about the church, direct you to the Children's check-in area, the Student Ministries areas or to a Sunday School class.
If you have any questions about the church or would like to take a campus tour, contact Todd Treat, Director of Programming.
What do I wear?
The majority of our Congregation dresses business casual (slacks, polo shirts, skirts, etc.) but we encourage our members to dress to their comfort level. Dress in whatever you feel is appropriate.
Where can I find more info about joining the church?
If you are interested in joining the Genesis family, there are several opportunities for you to do so. The easiest way would be to contact any of our Staff or our pastors, Allyson Paxton and Ginger Watson via phone, email or in person immediately after the service. We have membership classes called "connect class" for those looking to become members here. These classes meet once a week for four weeks and occur every three months.
Do I have to put money in the offering?
Guests at Genesis are not expected to participate in the offering. For those that would like to give, you can do so during worship whenever our offering plates are passed by in the Traditional Worship, placed money in baskets during communion in the 8:15 service or Fusion service, through Smart Giving by sending ‘$AMOUNT'’ to 817-697-2824 (i.e. $10), or through online giving at Genesisumc.com/Giving.
What are the expectations of members?
Members of United Methodist churches are asked to commit to the following categories of Christian living.
- Prayers: Members commit to pray for our church, our community and our world.
- Presence: Members commit to be present in worship and other opportunities where they can grow in their faith.
- Giving: Members commit to financially support the mission and ministry of the church through regular offering.
- Service: Members commit to find a place where they can serve and be a part of the work that the church is doing locally, regionally and around the world.
- Witness: Members commit to living and sharing a life of faith that reflects their commitment to Christ.
What about My Kids?
We take very seriously our commitment to partner with families in the process of nurturing children into Christian faith. We believe it is one of the most important things we do as a community of faith. Children who join our church with their families are called constituent members in anticipation of Confirmation, a class taught by our pastors and staff to our eighth graders (or older students who have not been through Confirmation) where they are introduced to the basics of the Christian faith and church membership. At the conclusion of confirmation, these young people are confirmed as full members of our church.
